Les Yeux Sans Visage is an imagined artist book inspired by Vivienne Westwood’s protest-oriented Spring 2020 collection “Wasteland.” I was drawn to a model with a spray-painted mask and garments constructed out of a mishmash of patterns, stripes, and colors. The punk and collage elements of this model made me think of city walls with layers of flyers and graffiti.
I was also inspired by Billy Idol’s song Eyes Without a Face and the French horror movie that inspired the song, Les Yeux Sans Visage. The book I created features handmade collages from images of Westwood and her work, photos of graffiti and show flyers I’ve taken, and vintage porn photographs.
